1. Australian Gold Product Information

1.1 Which Australian Gold tanning bed lotion is right for me?

In principle, all Australian Gold sunbed creams that are used on this website are suitable for every skin type. Nevertheless, it is wise to adhere to the following guidelines: - For sun worshipers who only start (again) with a tanning bed treatment or who now have a fairly light complexion, we recommend taking an Australian Gold product from the "Good products" series. These are excellent base lotions that take good care of the skin during sunbathing and you will notice that you also tan faster, more beautiful and more naturally. Each product lists the main ingredients, the number of (natural) bronzers and the fragrance. - if you are a more experienced sun worshiper or if you already have some color, we advise you to take an Australian Gold product from the series "Better products" or "Best products". These advanced high-quality lotions are characterized by maximum skin care and fantastic tanning results. The top product "Superior DHA Deluxe Bronzer" for example, contains no less than 50 powerful bronzers and also 50 skin care formulas. Also in these series, the main ingredients, the number of (natural) bronzers and the fragrance are listed for all products. - for men with a somewhat rougher (beard) skin, we recommend 1 of the products from the "G Gentlemen" series. These products have been tested by a male panel in America for six months and the results are absolutely excellent. Naturally, these lotions have a striking and attractive masculine fragrance. - for the lovers of "eco trendy" products there is the "Classic Sydney" series. Top lotions of an almost 100% natural composition, paraben-free, silicone-free and with powerful tanning formulas (or optionally with 15-fold or even 25-fold bronzers). Packed with vitamins, natural plant extracts, high-quality oils and nourishing moisturizers for perfect skin care. - and do not forget that the best aftercare is to use an Australian Gold after sun. These nourish and care for the skin, counteract fine lines and wrinkles and also ensure that the built-up tan stays extra long. And Australian Gold offers a wide choice, including Forever After, After All and the extensive Hemp Nation series. Can be used as a day cream, after sunbathing and / or after showering.

1.2 Which Australian Gold sunscreen cream is right for me?

Australian Gold offers an extensive range of spray gels and lotions for the outdoor sun. Spray gels with bronzer, spray gels without bronzer, excellent lotions, an excellent aftersun and a number of care products such as Soothing Aloe (if your skin is irritated), a lip balm stick, a Faceguard stick and even a Tattoo stick. In addition, Australian Gold offers 3 super-fast tanning oil products without protection factor for experienced sun lovers. All Australian Gold sunscreen creams comply with the most recent European rules, both in terms of composition and packaging. It is important to choose the most suitable factor for your skin. With regard to the spray gels with or without bronzer, you can choose from factor 6-10-15-30. Factors 6 and 10 represent "low protection", factor 15 represents "medium protection" and factor 30 represents "high protection". If you have fair skin or if you burn quickly, choose a high factor that offers sufficient protection. In addition to the spray gels, Australian Gold also offers various lotions, from a factor of 15 to a factor of 50. If you are going on holiday and you want to tan well protected, then choose Australian Gold!

2. Questions about Sunscreen

2.1 How do I use sunscreen correctly?

If you want to protect yourself optimally, make sure that all areas of skin exposed to the sun are well coated. Never be too economical, too much can not hurt and time can be little dangerous. If you have rubbed yourself on, always wait to get dressed so that the skin can absorb the sunburn. If you don't do this, you may have all the sunscreen on your clothes and not on your skin. How often you should use sunscreen is not a matter of time, but how long it is exposed to the sun. If you are not out all day but every now and then, it is best to save the day with one application. If you are out in the sun all day, it is recommended that you apply yourself every 2 hours.

2.2 How fast can I get a tan?

This depends on your skin type and the number of times you sunbathe. The pigmentation process has to be started first and usually this goes faster with someone with skin type 4 than with someone with skin type 2. The number of times you sunbathe and the cosmetics you use are also important.

2.3 Can I get red or burn?

You can turn red from the heat and then there is nothing to worry about. Sometimes turning red can also be an indication of light burn. Then consult with your tanning consultant who will adjust your course somewhat. A lighter sofa or shorter sun hours. And it is wise not to come back to sunbathing until the redness has completely disappeared

2.4 How often and how long can I sunbathe?

This depends on your skin type and the result you want to achieve. In general, you come once or three a week during your build-up course and if you want to keep up with your tan afterwards, 1 or 2 times a week is usually sufficient.

2.5 I am pregnant, can I sunbathe?

In general, this is not a problem, although there is a chance of a pregnancy mask. It is important that you continue to feel comfortable. Listen to your body. If you feel stuffy or uncomfortable, stop sunbathing immediately. The fetus can see from the 7th month. Avoid placing too much light on your stomach by placing a towel over it while sunbathing. We advise you to always first consult your doctor or midwife.

2.6 I use medicines, can I sunbathe?

This is difficult to answer, because there are of course many different drugs. Some medications can cause an allergic reaction. Although this is usually included in the package leaflet, it is wise to consult your doctor if in doubt.

2.7 What is SPF?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. This is the factor of how much UVB radiation the sunscreen can have. If you would normally burn after 10 minutes in a day of sun, with SPF (also called factor) 10 this would take about 10 times longer. You can never say this exactly because it is due to many different factors. Think of UV index, time, place on the earth.

2.8 What is the shelf life of my SPF product?

The shelf life of a product is stated on the label: an open jar containing the number of months that the product has a shelf life AFTER OPENING. You can rest assured that the product will provide the protection that is on the label during that time. After that period, protection slowly declines.

2.9 My day cream / makeup has SPF in it, can I use this as a sunscreen?

No. A day cream or kind of make-up never gives enough protection to sunbathe. This is only protection for short moments in the sun. If you are going to be in the sun a lot, just use sunscreen to be well protected.

2.10 How do I know which SPF to use?

The height of the SPF you need depends on your skin type and sun strength. If you don't naturally tan and burn very quickly, always use a minimum of factor 30 and apply yourself more often than usual. If you tan slowly but do burn quickly, always use a minimum of factor 20. Do you tan easily and do not burn quickly? Always use a minimum of factor 15. If you hardly ever burn, and you tan very easily, use a minimum of factor 10. Whatever factor you use, always apply at least every 2 hours.

2.11 If I mix different SPF, I have more SPF

No, this does not work. If you want a higher SPF, you must use a higher SPF.

2.12 Is it good to burn first and then tan?

No, this is definitely a fable. Skin cells are damaged every time you burn. The dead skin cells are then shed as soon as possible. In severe cases, scars can even form after burning. At that time, the skin is also extremely sensitive and has to recover for a long time. You should therefore always avoid burning.

2.13 I am very white, can I get brown at all?

Yes, this is possible. But most pale people burn a lot before they turn brown. As a result, the risk of consequences is greater than for people with other skin types. If you are very pale and you are going to sunbathe, make sure you apply yourself well with a high SPF and make sure you do this often.

2.14 When I was in the sun yesterday I did not burn, but now the next day I wake up burnt. How is this possible?

It can take up to 24 hours to see the redness of the skin. If you are in the sun and you see that you are getting a little red, it is advised to immediately get out of the sun and apply yourself well. After a day in the sun, it is also useful to use Aftersun to moisturize your skin well.

2.15 Should you put sunscreen on or under your makeup and day cream?

You should apply sunscreen under your makeup. This is because it can then bind well to your skin. Sunscreen, however, should be on your day cream. This is because your day cream only works when applied directly to the skin. It's smart if you choose a water-based day cream because the sunscreen can't bind to your skin if your day cream is too oily.

2.16 How do I keep my brown skin longer?

Make sure you moisturize your skin well. Apply Aftersun immediately after sunbathing to keep your hydration at the right level. Scrub your skin before you sunbathe, so you remove the dead skin cells and so you tan on your healthy skin cells so that it stays longer. Apply yourself well! If you burn, you do not get brown and the brown skin cells that were already there disappear through the peeling.

2.17 Why do children have other protection products?

This is because a child's skin is much more fragile than an adult's skin. Children therefore need other products to have better protection.

2.18 What are the symptoms of sun allergy?

The symptoms of sun allergy are mainly red skin with blisters or bumps.

2.19 How many times a day should I apply myself?

Apply yourself at least every 2 hours. This gives you optimal protection. Also make sure you are not careful with the sunscreen. Using too little can become dangerous, and too much is never wrong.

2.20 How often and how long can I sunbathe?

This depends on your skin type and the result you want to achieve. In general, you come once or three a week during your build-up course and if you want to keep up with your tan afterwards, 1 or 2 times a week is usually sufficient.

2.21 Can I still tan with high SPF?

Certainly! You can just tan if you use a high factor. Sunburn only protects you from sunburn. So if you apply yourself well you will still get a brown skin and it will stay longer and more beautiful.

2.22 How can I prevent sunburn stains on clothes?

If you use sunscreen, let it soak before putting on your clothes. If you do this, you are much less likely to stain your clothes.

2.23 I'm going on vacation soon, how do I start?

Whether you are going on holiday, getting married soon or having another party, it is wise to start with a tanning bed in plenty of time. You slowly build up a beautiful, natural brown color and usually do not have it within a few days. Tell the sun consultant when that special occasion is and they will make good planning for you.

3. Questions about self tanner

3.1 Does a self-tanner protect against the sun?

No, self-tanner does not protect from the sun. To protect yourself from the sun, you should use sunscreen.

3.2 How does self tanner work?

Self tanner works by a substance called DHA (dihydroxyacetone). This is an artificial sugar that reacts in the top layer of the skin and consists of dead skin cells. This reaction gives the skin a brown color. How brown it gets depends on the amount of DHA.

3.3 Can you use self tanner with any skin type?

Yes, this is possible. For sensitive skin it is recommended to test it to see how your skin reacts.

3.4 How do I choose the right color self-tanner?

If you look at the facts, there are no different colors, but different amounts of DHA. The higher the percentage of DHA, the more brown you will become. Therefore, look carefully when buying self-tanner, how you want to tan, and adjust your choice accordingly.

3.5 Can I also use self-tanner with very pale skin?

Yes, you can! It is even a good substitute for suns if you burn quickly. If you are very pale, you should pay attention that you start with a subtle, good quality self-tanner.

3.6 How long does it take before the color of self-tanner is off?

This depends on your skin. It is not due to the effect or quality of the self-tanner. If you look at the average, it stays about 3 to 5 days.

4. Questions about tanning bed lotion

4.1 I suffer from white spots, what can that be?

Usually these are pressure spots, where your body relies most on the sunbed. This is easily remedied by lying on your stomach for the last few minutes. It can also be pigment spots and unfortunately little can be done about that. Some pharmacies have a certain cream for this, but it does not help everyone. If you are unsure whether they are pigmentation spots, ask your doctor for advice.

4.2 Is the radiation from a tanning bed dangerous?

The sunbed's radiation is no more dangerous than the radiation from the outside sun. The advantage is that the radiation from the sunbed is controlled, has to comply with certain rules and has the correct UVA-UVB ratio. In addition, the tanning time and strength of the tanning bed are tailored to your skin type.

4.3 What kind of product is the Botanical Tinted Face?

This is an SPF specially designed for the face. This contains factor 50, which gives you extra protection against the sun. You can see this product as a kind of BB cream, because there is a touch in the cream. We also have 3 different variants of this. The Light is most similar to the Botanical Tinted Face of the previous collection. It is important to know that you first apply your Botanical Tinted Face and then your makeup, if you do this the other way around you block the protection.

4.4 Why should you use tanning lotions

By using tanning lotion, the skin is well cared for and the skin remains hydrated. The lotion also ensures that the brown color comes faster and lasts longer.

4.5 Can I also use my tanning product for the outdoor sun?

Yes, this is possible if an SPF with protection factor is used over the tanning bed cream. You get best of both worlds, the sunscreen protects you from the sun and the sunbed cream ensures a faster and deeper tan. If you use a sunbed cream without SPF, you can use the cream in combination with sunscreen. The sunbed cream then accelerates the tanning process and the sunscreen provides optimal protection.

4.6 How do I start sunbathing under tanning bed?

Ask for advice from a tanning salon that is affiliated with the SVZ (responsible sunbathing partnership). Build your touch with a sun schedule, the tanning salon often helps with this. Lubricating a sunbed cream is much better for the skin than without it. Also the after care for your skin is very important since dry skin does not tan well. In terms of tanning creams, there are many different types. Without bronzers, Natural bronzers, Delayed bronzers. This is different for everyone, which you prefer.

4.7 Can I also use a tanning bed lotion for the face?

This is possible only we always recommend a special tanning cream for the face such as the Smooth Faces. The reason for this is that your face is much more sensitive than the rest of your body.

4.8 How long can you keep tanning bed lotion?

Tanning bed lotion can be stored until the date on the bottle. If the cream is older than this date, the effect will decrease.

4.9 Do you get equally brown from a tanning bed as the sun?

Yes, the process is exactly the same. The skin also does not feel any difference between tanning bed and the sun. The strength of the equipment may vary, which could take longer.

4.10 What is the difference between natural bronzers and delayed bronzers?

Natural bronzers are designed to stimulate the tanning process and create a beautiful base tone, while also coloring the skin darker and natural, without the use of DHA. Delayed Bronzers are designed for a faster visible result, an extra dark color that lasts longer, even after your tanning session, it tans.
